The Story of an Uncommonly Gentle Man

I'm gonna 'splode in thirteen days.
So the past few weeks have been pretty fun. Sunday the 12, Me, Lenny, & Jacquie went to this crazy indoor black light, 3D putt putt in Corydon, IN. It was actually really cool. Though yet again, I came in last as putt putt just isn’t my thing. We stopped and ate at Cracker Barrel before heading back to Louisville, which we spontaneously decided to stop at PT’s Showclub. We called Wayne and he met us up there. It was my first time at a strip joint, so I felt a little awkward at first, but gradually calmed down over time. We stayed for about 45 minutes or so, long enough for 4 dancers. 2 of them were cute, 1 was not attractive at all, and the last one was smokin’. A single beer was $5.50 though, so it’ll probably be a while before I go back.

I spent a few nights up in Louisville about a week and a half ago. I went out to the Zanzabar (aka "Brown Bag" to the old school) Friday night with Lenny, Jacquie, Goat, and all them for a pretty good time. Saturday was hanging out around Lenny’s and then going to Joe’s Crab Shack to get some food, followed by playing Scattergories at Jacquie’s with Wayne. Managed to pick up Prototype and X-Men Origins: Wolverine for the 360. Sunday was a chill day at Lenny’s place, didn’t really get into much. Monday, I made my way to E-town with Jacquie to pick up her car and take it back to Louisville. Before doing so, I went to my mom’s and mowed the yard. Headed back up to Lenny’s afterward and pretty much got on the 360 for the rest of the night. Tuesday, we had some people over to drink and swim that evening; Alan, Sarah, Jacquie, & Darryl all came by.

Thursday night was the Killswitch Engage concert at the InnPlace Hotel & Convention Center. I rode up to Louisville with Grrrr and JK and we managed to make it inside just as Whitechapel was finishing their set. Good thing too because I am not a fan. So we stood around waiting for Cannibal Corpse to go on. We managed to run into Maygan, though she stuck around for a minute before backing out. Now, I don’t understand why Cannibal Corpse didn’t play right before KsE, because they played longer than All That Remains, and Corpsegrinder even talked in between songs. But anyway, me and Lenny decided to jump into a pit during Cannibal Corpse because we don’t really get into pits much anymore, and you don’t get the chance to see a band like Cannibal Corpse every day, haha. All That Remains played next and they sounded much better than they did at Rock on the Range. I was quite disappointed in their short set though. Killswitch Engage finally came on and they sounded awesome. They played about as much as I was expecting being the headliners, though some of the songs they played could have been better. I guess being that my fav. album of theirs is “Alive or Just Breathing”, I should have expected to only get the singles from that album. Anyway, after the show, we headed back and I didn’t stay up for too long once I got home, just really crashed out.

Friday was a really chill day for me. Didn’t really get into anything or nothin. Saturday though was the Brooks & Dunn concert on Fort Knox. Me, Dad, & Shirley left the house about 4:30 to get on Post. We got there right around 5:00 and got in, where we waited for them to movie the barrier so we could get our spot among the crowd. We actually got a really good one, right by the sound board area up by the stage. Joey + Rory were the first act to go on, and it was only the two of them. They didn’t have a backing band or anything, and dude had to use his iPhone. Nonetheless though, Joey had a really good voice and I’m hoping they take off in the country scene, cause their songs were good; it just stunk they didn’t have a band. They did play their one hit though twice, which I thought was a little weird, as they opened and closed with it; but then, they are fresh off that “Can You Duet” thing from CMT, so I get it. Lenny, Jacquie, and Nicki got there shortly after Joey + Rory were done. Lee Ann Womack was next, and she is still smokin’ for 42. She played “I Hope You Dance” right before her last song, which I totally called during her first song. If it weren’t for the bass guitar being so loud, it would have sounded great, but that kinda hurt it for me. Brooks & Dunn on the other hand, sounded fantastic. They played for a while, and played some songs in which I am quite the fan of now. I knew a bit of their stuff going in, but man, after the show, I was really impressed. I went to Otter Creek Tavern to meet up with Lenny since they had left before Brooks & Dunn were finished. Kristy Armentrout was there, said hey to her, and she’s still a fox. Went back up to Louisville with them after the bar closed and we stopped at White Castle to get some food. Afterwards, we went back to Jacquie’s place but not before they stopped to rent “He’s Just Not That Into You”. I pretty much crashed out when we got back there while the rest of them watched that movie.

Sunday, I went over to Mom’s for a little cookout and what not. Mom bought a cornhole set and Me & Timmy played a few rounds against Joey and his girlfriend. We went 3-0 against them, oh yeah!

Last night, I watched “Planet Terror”, the zombie movie from Grindhouse. Totally awesome. Robert Rodriguez knows his stuff. I watched “Coraline” after that, which I thought was pretty good. Was a bit slow at the beginning, but good nonetheless. I also watched the first half hour or so of “Visioneers”. Weird movie, but it seems good.

Tomorrow I go to ECTC to register for my classes. Bout time I get back into school. Friday, is the free Tonic concert up at 4th Street Live!, so that should be fun. Might catch Funny People either afterwards or sometime over the weekend.

I have my ticket for the Coheed & Cambria concert on August 17 in Louisville, as well as In Flames & Between the Buried And Me on September 30. Gonna have to find out if Lenny has to work August 13 or 20, cause we’re gonna have to work around something to go to one of the Blink 182 shows. I am not missing them on this tour, not gonna happen. Nine Inch Nails in Chicago is another show I might have to work something out for, as well as the 3 Metallica shows (don’t judge me). So many concerts, so little time.

Speaking of so little time, so many games coming out again this Fall. I didn’t think there was, but when looking at the schedule, it’s like BUH! Batman: Arkham Asylum, The Beatles: Rock Band, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Borderlands, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Assassin’s Creed 2…and I’m sure I’m missing a few. I hate being a gamer, hate it, hate it, hate it! I’m totally lying, I love every bit of it.

Working on putting together an Octobeerfest cabin. So far, the response has been pretty good, so hopefully this year’s Octobeerfest can be like it was when we first started doing it. Last year’s was easily the least attended cabin out of all of them.

Not this weekend, but next weekend, Me, Lenny, Dan Blakeman, Jessica Hamilton, Adam, Angela, Slim, and Abbi are all going up to Michigan for Dan Canales wedding. Ought to be good times, road trips are always fun with friends. It’s only like a 6 hour drive, so that won’t be too bad.

Anyway, that’s the plan for the immediate future. I might have an update before Dan’s wedding, talking about the Tonic concert, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
